Lan Ha Bay is
a member of the Association of the most beautiful bays in the world.
Lan Ha Bay
encompasses the southeastern coast of the Cat Ba Island in the Cat Ba
Archipelago, stretching over 7,000ha, located in Cat Hai District, Hai Phong
City, Vietnam. Unlike other coastal areas of Vietnam, Lan Ha Bay consists of 366 large and small islands with dense distribution, mostly greening of vegetation
and 40 sandy beaches from 20m wide on coral reefs, such as Ang Vem , Cat Dua
beach, Cat Co beaches, Ben Beo beach, Co Tien beach, Van Boi, Van Ha ... The
depth of Lan Ha Bay is about 11m to 26m, surrounded by islands on three sides
so it is quiet almost all year round. . This is the place containing the most
biodiversity source of the Northern Gulf, an attractive tourist destination
and has great potential for socio-economic development.

Cat Ba archipelago is a wonderful model of “karst” maturation in humid tropical
conditions, shaped “karst” terrain submerged by the sea with countless majestic
limestone towers and features of the erosion of the island foot like ancient
and modern seawater barrier, creating a very interesting natural landscape. It
is also the most prominent and broadest model of towering “karst” terrain and
is one of the most important areas in the world of tower “karst” landscape
(tower karst or fengling) and landscape "karst" peak form cluster.

Different from
the World Natural Heritage Ha Long Bay is adjacent, Lan Ha Bay has a dense
density of limestone mountains, with many looks in accordance with its name
such as Clogs, Bat ... separating the sea surface into coves. Because the islands encompass around so the water environment in Lan Ha Bay is always clear and green,
with a much richer biodiversity. In the middle of the bay, nestled on the
mountainside are long, white sand beaches stretching between two rocky blocks.
Under the blue water is the lively world of the ocean, with colorful corals in Van Boi and Van Ha beaches, which are very convenient for scientific
research and scuba diving tourism. Besides, Lan Ha Bay also contains countless
saltwater lakes in the middle of the mountain.

Lan Ha Bay is
also associated with one of the most important Cai Beo archaeological sites in
the coastal areas and islands of Northeast Vietnam. According to archaeological
research, the site has a thick cultural layer, showing that ancient people here
have lived and settled for a long time through the ages. The appearance of wild
animal tooth bones and marine fish bones show that previously Cai Beo residents
specialized in hunting, gathering and fishing. The most noticeable trace today
is Cai Beo fishing village, one of the largest ancient floating villages in
prehistoric Vietnam, a unique island and sea tourism destination of Hai Phong
city.

With unique
features of an outstanding ecosystem, natural habitat for conservation of plant
and animal species, especially endangered species and containing archaeological
evidence about ancient Vietnamese and Lan Lan Ha is oriented to develop to
become one of the sea resort centers, with special tourist attraction in the
country and internationally.
