HOW TO GET TO CAT BA ISLAND?
Starting from Hanoi, visitors can follow two directions to Cat Ba.
The first direction is along Highway 5B Hanoi - Hai Phong, then the island with a distance of about 130 km. If you go in this direction, you will pass Tan Vu - Lach Huyen Bridge, the longest cross-sea bridge in Vietnam and one of the longest cross-sea bridge in Southeast Asia to reach Cat Hai island. Here you will have 2 options to come to Cat Ba pearl island.
The first option is that you travel by ferry from Got Wharf to Cai Vieng wharf, experience the most beautiful coastal road in Vietnam to reach Cat Ba island center.
The second option can give you a completely new feeling that you have never experienced before. It is crossing the sea by cable car. The cable car here has a height of 214.8m and has the highest cable shaft in the world. This is a 3-wire cable car crossing Cat Hai - Phu Long with a length of 3,955m, connecting the areas of Dong Bai and Phu Long communes of Cat Hai district with a design of 60 cabins, each cabin can accommodate 15 guests, operating at a maximum speed of 8m/s, reaching a capacity of 4500 passengers/hour, this route is part of the Cat Ba cable car system with a total length of 19.5km. Traveling by cable car will shorten the time you travel to Cat Ba from about 20 minutes by ferry to 9 minutes by cable car. The second way you can follow Highway 18 through Bac Ninh - Hai Duong, go to Ha Long by ferry on Tuan Chau island to Gia Luan ( Cat Ba ). The distance of about 150 km.
